As the skies darkened
On that spring afternoon
They loomed on the horizon
They would arrive all too soon.
Droplets of rain fell
Tapping against the window
Another dreary day here
But at least it wasn't snow.
Besides being dreary
A chill filled the air
As she looked out the window
All she could do is stare.
She decided that maybe
A fire would warm her soul
And a book, with a glass of wine
Would make her feel whole.
With the fire lit
The wine ready to pour
And a book on the couch
Who could ask for anything more.
As the fire took off the chill
She watched it glow
Colors of orange,blue, yellow
A simpler pleasure she did not know.
She drifted off to sleep
Her dream, her journey
Places she'd already been
And places she'd hope to see.
When she awoke
She felt the gentle sun ray
Warm upon her skin
And gone was the rainy day.
