The Meadow

Together we lay in the meadow
Where the tall grass grew
Making passionate love
Under a sky of blue.
There was a gentle breeze
That made the grass sway to
and fro
Holding on to each other
Never wanting to let go.
Later as we lay in that meadow
Watching clouds pass overhead
We shared a moment
No words needed to be said.
No thought was given
To tomorrow or what it might bring
It was today, this moment
And that was all that meant anything.
I looked into her eyes
And saw her beauty within
I wanted to tell her what was in my
heart
But I didn't know where to begin.
So I held her
And gently caressed her hair
Wanting to show my love
Wanting to show I care.
It was my skin against hers
In the meadow that day
A perfect day, a perfect moment
There was nothing left to say.
It is now Fall
The Summer has passed by
A cold wind blows
As dark clouds fill the sky.
What once was
Was never again
She did not want a lifetime
All she wanted was a friend.
But when I need to feel better
I let my mind go
To that time, that moment
That Summer, that meadow.

This will probably be in my favorites category. I love the imagery. I love meadows and write about them myself. My poetry seems to end like this, too. I do relate to this... greatly.

You reminded me of Wordsworth returning to the meadow in your mind's eye. Beautifully done.

As always still waiting for that first bad poem that you post by mistake--ah, but then you don't write bad poems!
