Was once upon a time
I knew this lass
She was a fair maiden
Full of life and sass.
But one day she left
Traveled down the track
Though I hold on and hope
I doubt she will be back.
I will never understand
Even though I try
Her leaving so suddenly
Still brings a tear in my eye.
I remember a time
Better days past
We spent together
Time went so fast.
We walked in the meadow
Holding her hand
Now I know in my heart
Forever can never be planned.
The days we spent
The kisses we would share
Now I have to wonder
If life is truly fair.
But as the sun fades
Into the western sky
I wish for a moment
A chance to say goodbye.
I stand at the station
Wishing my soul I could sell
For one brief moment
To tell that lass farewell.
