I don't know if I have mentioned what I do to make money. It's not my career because I don't think a job doing something day in and day out that you don't enjoy is a career. To me a career is something you do because it's part of who you are. A thing you do when you are done brushing your teeth or squatting to pee. I have never found that kind of enjoyment or self satisfaction in any job to consider it a career. Oh if only I could get paid to camp and drink beer. But no - I buy things for a living. And I make money doing it.
I am a Buyer. I spend about $20,000 to $100,000 a day. Sounds cool huh? Well if I was spending it on ME it would be but I buy reeeeeaaaly boring things like nuts and bolts and engines!!! Yeah. exciting huh? NOT.
I am however good at what I do because I don't have to be nice to ANYONE. I have worked enough jobs in my life that required me to work with customers and HAVE to be nice to them and put up with bullshit with a smile and this job!! THEY HAVE TO BE NICE TO ME!!! So, I am very strict with my vendors about due dates, quotes and expedites and they usually abide by my expectations to keep me buying their products.
I also keep my desk, purchase orders, quotes, and notes all in nice little piles and in complete order. I hate a messy desk and cannot work if things are not in their place.
Today though, I have a conundrum. I keep all my purchase orders on a list that one sheet holds 20. I color code them to where they are going, and if they have been confirmed. I am VERY picky about my sheets. Today my sheet has 19 purchase orders on it. And it's Friday almost time to go home and I WANT to fill in that last line on my sheet. Not because I need to order something. I just want my sheet finished before the weekend.
Does anybody have a motor or bearing I can buy?
