The contractor's office called this morning, but apparently what the nice lady told the boss didn't quite add up so he called a bit later. Somehow she got the idea that I wanted hinged doors. That would be a real PIA, especially when there is snow on the ground. So we got that taken care of.
Then he called back to ask if we wanted one overhead door or two. I explained why I wanted two, and he finally caught on when he realized that we would soon have a second vehicle.
The closest color for siding that is available is the same ivory that's on the shed. Donna will be disappointed, but if the house gets painted yellow it will still be compatible with the garage and shed which will match each other. The roof will be brown, same as the house, so I'll need to power-wash the green roof on the shed and get that painted brown also.
I had another load of gravel delivered to the "parking area" where the old garage used to be, so we can park there for now without walking in mud. Grass is growing in the areas that were messed-up by heavy equipment and the area is coming together just as I pictured it. Hopefully there will be enough insurance money left to buy a few snow shovels and a roof rake; then everything will be as it was--only better!
Fall has officially arrived, but the weather has still been nice, especially during the day. No frost yet, but the remains of the tomatoes and squash aren't doing much. We had a great harvest of both, tho, so no complaints. I only eat homegrown tomatoes, and I had my fill!
Spring came in April, so we've had six months of nice outdoor weather. This is basically unheard of around here! Nice weather into October and November makes for a short winter, and there are no complaints about that either! Maybe I can get some fall foliage pics taken before the next big storm, but it's not looking good.... Happy Fall!
