Before
While I was washing the lunch dishes and checking out the window to see if the garbage truck had passed and done it’s pick up yet (it hasn’t), I looked again at the bottle of purple dish soap sitting next to the sink.
I bought that huge bottle of dish soap during Easter Weekend. I picked it out during an impromptu trip to Shopper’s Drug Mart because it was the only store open that turned out to be way more fun that anyone could have guessed. It is a huge bottle of liquid soap and it’s lasted a long time, especially considering how often I do the fucking dishes around here!
And while I made note of how much purple soap was left, I thought to myself…
Before the dish soap is finished.
Before the Kleenex next to my bed needs to be replaced.
Before my next shift at work.
Before I make another VISA payment.
Before I have to pick up my clothes at work.
Before another pay day.
Before an oil change.
Before a grocery store trip.
Before my period.
Before Mother’s Day.
Before Emma’s birthday.
And Kate’s birthday.
Before the milk sours.
Before the bread goes stale.
Before the bathroom needs to be scrubbed again.
Before I see K and J and my little guy, Bradley.
Before I call my Mom.
Before I call my sister.
Before the next garbage day.
I will see my boy.
Five days and counting.
Who knew we were this adventurous?
