Today when Kev woke up and I wished him a happy birthday, he said he already felt older. His reasoning was becauase he felt like sleeping in and older people like to sleep in LOL.
When I picked him up from school, he was in a great mood. He was thrilled with what his classmates had said about him in his "birthday hug" book. When he got home, Sis had used her sidewalk chalk to greet him with a Happy Birthday driveway and I had a big Sponge Bob bag waiting for him in the house. Inside was "just what he wanted" LOL- a remote control boat that he's been wanting for a long time. I'd been putting off getting it since we don't have a pool but after a few years, I had to get it for him. He tried it in the tub tonight LOL. I also got him play dough (which he asked for yesterday) and a new Monster truck poster for his wall. I also got Riss the cutest poster of all these puppies sitting in different color sneakers. It's super cute and goes good with her "slightly" polk-a-dotted wall.
I love that since being here and the weather getting nicer, the kids come home and immediately go outside to play. They don't sit and eat, watch tv etc. This is going to be a great benefit for us. I also have to walk the dogs the minute I get up and the minute I get home, along with right after they eat and before bed. This gets me out which is a good thing.
We had his birthday request dinner and then A came over with his gift of a loaded tackle kit. He sat with him going through every part and talked of all the times they will go fishing. I hope he keeps his promise. He's been such a better dad since our separation and I've been such a better Mom. It's so sad that we had to make this choice in order to be good parents to our babies.
Whatever it takes...
Happy birthday Kevin!
