Our New Pets

I wanted to share some pics of our new pets. A lady at work wanted to get rid of them but wanted them to go to a good home. They first went to another lady at work but she said it was just too much work. (?) So she was going to give us the turtles along with everything they came with, which included a 40 gallon tank. Well she gave us everything but the tank, saying it was too heavy and she couldn't get any to help her get it to her car. I think she saw this as an opportunity to get a big fish tank. But it's all good. Hubby went to the auction on Saturday and got our turtles a 50 gallon tank.

dakota named them squirtel ( which is a pokemon character) and Terre. Terre for terrepins which was his school mascot. I call them big one and small one

oh he sure is, he feeds them, turns on their basking lamp in the morning. I am growing quite fond of them too. I have gotten the big one to take food from my hand. they are kind of creepy looking though.

they are fascinating! I love just watching them swim around or climb up on their big rock to bask in the 'sun'. Since I can't have any animals that could have fleas, these guys are pretty cool

they seem pretty happy in their big tank. I do want to get a little pool for them so they can get some actual sun rather than artificial all the time. I am hoping we have some babies some time!

And the names??? You have to tell 'aussiegirl'--she has a thing for turtles--and cats--and chimpanzees--oh heck all creatures!!!

squirtel and terre. dakota named them. I don't like frogs or snakes and consider turtles in the same category, but they are actually pretty cool

they are really alot of fun and finally dakota can have some pets! he is fascinated by them. and they are growing on me.
