The Bus Meeting

First of all, I am feeling great today! I just came from the bus meeting. Because kota was suspended from riding the school bus, we had to have a meeting with the head of transportation and kota's asst. principal. The asst. principal first asked how my meeting with the counselor went yesterday and I filled her in. Then they both talked to kota about proper behavior on the bus and what to do if someone is bugging him. Then the transportation guy said, wow that is a long bus ride! hehehe. He thinks that is part of the problem. Our plan is I will continue to transport kota for the remainder of this school year and he will go back to the bus for next year. The good thing is he will have a shorter bus ride next year due to going to the elementary school.
But the asst principal made me feel so good! She told kota that he was lucky to have such a good mom who was doing all the right things to help him. She raved about me alot!
Now the funny part. When we got there, we were early. So we were sitting there waiting. Out of the conference room came the asst principal and kota's number one enemy. The little girl who has given him so many problems. She rides his bus and is in his class. Well the asst principal told the little girl to sit there and wait as they had to talk to her mommy alone. I heard raised voices but could not make out what  was being said. When the mom came out she looked pissed! So I am guessing her little angel does not get to go back to riding the bus. So a little bit of justice there for me and kota!
I made a deal with kota, if he has a good day we will either go for ice cream after school or to the dollar store for a toy, his choice. This was something else the counselor told me to do. I thought ice cream or a toy would be a good motivation. other things would be going to the park, having a friend over, etc. Kota said he is really going to try! When I signed him in at school as he was heading to his class, he turned around and said, love you mom! AWWWWWWW!

Matt was kicked off the bus for bad behavior. I asked that he have an asign seat. Since then no more problem. Matt is unable to make friends. He can not read if they want to be his friend or not. He thinks everyone has to be his friend.

Yep, that's a kid's secret weapon--"I love you Mom" works EVERY time!!!

That's great news that the meeting went so well. My first thought, when you mentioned the other mom and her daughter, was that perhaps the daughter gets her behavior from her mother. I'm so happy to hear it went so well. You really have a lot of great support and that is wonderful!

It sounds like everyone is willing to work it out, and it must be refreshing to the school people that you are such a good parent getting involved right away with an open mind.
