The N Word

Most of you who have worked with African Americans know that they apply the N word to other blacks that they hold in contempt.

We have certainly come a long way when a brilliant black man has the opportunity to become President. Sadly, I still hear the N word a lot here in Rednecksville. I grew up in a home rife with prejudice. My children and grandchildren have not.

I hate hearing it applied to anyone and personally vow to confront anyone who uses it. OBama could have chosen to reject his black heritage but he did not. Instead he chose to be a credit and an inspiration to other African Americans. An ability to govern does not depend on the color of your skin.

I am more an agnostic than a believer in a single faith. I have
no use for organized religion since it often has little to do
with moral behavior and some of the most heinous crimes of
humanity have come from an obsessive preoccupation with one's
church. Behave morally. The rest is b.s.

I grew up in the deep south were that word was very offensive. I don't use it nor do I let anyone in my house use it.

Well then EJ let me put it a little differently. If your husband was a regular attendee at KKK rallies would you go with him? And if you did go do you think you would be effected after 20 years?

Trinity Church is a Black Nationalist organization 1st and a church 2nd (if at all). I don't really expect all the gentle white ladies who've commented here to be able to grasp the evil of Wright and his message.

I guess you should be commended for attending church for the sake of your husband when you can't personally relate. Nothing could drag me into an indoctrination center on a regular basis. It's torture enough for me to attend weddings and funerals.

It doesn't make any sense to me to call any of God's children names because of their Creator's choice for them. I know people who are not "white" who have never been called names. One of my friends (who is slightly off-white) is not even thought of as being anything other than a kind human being. Maybe it's that I've been pretty sheltered all of my life...

I think the black people who deride their own by calling them the "N" word cannot criticize others if they do the same.

I have always used and applied the "N" word to those that "you people" would call "white trash" -- Bill Clinton trailer park types!!!!

I grew up in the same kind of home. My adoptive father had a derogatory slang word for every ethnic group that wasn't like him. He hated them all with a passion. You and I are very fortunate to have come out differently in spite of that influence.

yea, this is tough. You will always hear this.
Sad that it does happen.I have a black grandchild and he is
aware of this.So far things have been good, unless he is not telling
us.Same thing with the Jewish faith. They still get shot down.
Obama will turn things around for all of us.
May take time but in the end the reward will come.
So,hang in there and just ignored the stupidity of people.

I so admire him, and I for one am ready for change; I dare to dream, and I do not delude myself. Change will be painful.

Now please don't get me wrong. I don't wish to offend but haven't you noticed that there is a reverse side to Obama's embracing his "blackness"? He spent 20 years sitting in a "church" that rejected his "whiteness" with bitter, hateful speech. Try to get it. Skin color is everything to the Obamas!

I concur and it's a shame, although they call each other that all the time so it makes little sense that they still find it so offensive. But maybe that's just me.
