Wednesday

Life is far from dull. Our dear friend, whom I have known since he was sixteen and who has had so much trouble with
his son is in a fine legal mess. Some nosey parker who has observed that he has not worked in three years sicced the police on him for drugs. The seized his computer tore up his house, looked through all his papers and found 2 ounces of marijuana on the premises and took him off to jail. I assume almost everyone at one time or another has smoked a
joint. Lane kept it to help him sleep. The ten policeman
that swooped down on his house had a lot of egg on their
faces. He has not worked because he inherited quite a lot
of money. He is humiliated and determined to spend the rest of his inheritence if it takes it to have the felony
count reduced to a misdeamenor. Don't lecture me about the
legality. I know it is illegal but sheesh...ten policemen to recover two ounces. If our neighbors start syping on us
it is a fine how do you do as my father used to say.

Adrienne came home with three awards. Math, science and
language arts. She has just bloomed in middle school and
she is so sensible. She is bursting with hormones but knows
that unprotected sex is a no no as she pointed out to me
today, it can ruin your whole life.

I am going to have chicken stir fry tonight. It is easy
and different so I best hustle into the kitchen and fix it.
Have a good day tomorrow friends.

Jeri, I see what you mean That stinks! For all those 'neighbours' knew, he could have won the lottery (and kept his winnings secret). I won't say anymore - I've got 'Big Brother' watching what I, say do and write - oh, and 'read' too . . .

Good fences make good neighbours, as they say.I can't help but wonder who has the time on their hands to spy...

Not only to spy but to concoct an utterly false scenario. Lane is meeting
with his lawyer today and hopefully they will quash the charges. It is a
felony in Oklahoma.

It's scary that someone had to go through this just because they have "no visible means of support". I have no visible means of support! Does that mean I could be a target for something like this? How old is Adrienne now? When you mentioned raging hormones I realized that she is older than my mental image.

Adrienne is twelve and looks at least sixteen. She is five ft. six and slender and willowy with a very cute figure. I remember that twelve was the
age when I was extremely curious about sex. I am glad to be a sounding
board for her. This was so malicious. He went around and apoligised to
his neighbors last night. He has lived in that neighborhood 22 years.
I forgot to mention that his wife was handcuffed and thrown down on the
floor.

There was an article on google pet news with a video of a swat team that busted into a guy's house and shot his dog. I was ready to blog it, but I started into a rant about pigs (I am a product of the 60s) and changed my mind. Let's just say I agree with Jondude and I'll get out of here before I get going....

I hate that the police spend so much time on so little evidence. Who knows who may tattle on you and upset your life forever.
reply by elderjane on Oct 21, 2010 5:11 AM ()
I'm not sure, but I think in this state it would have been a misdemeanor, and California would probably be the equivalent of a speeding ticket. But there are so many repercussions from that kind of police action, he's right to try to get the felony reduced. Look at all the slackers in our communities who never pay their rent or utilities and manage to get by, conning vendors into letting them get away with it, but nobody turns them in for having no visible means of support. Just try to get the cops to raid their houses.

It occurs to me that if drugs were legalized and you were free to destroy
yourself if you are so inclined that they would soon lose their attraction and the crime rate would decrease. I don't even consider marijuana much
of a drug. It should be legalized so that cancer patients and those
with chronic pain would have access to it.

That's a frightening story and it shows how tenuous our ordered lives are if some envious neighbor can instigate an investigation on no evidence at all. Any reasonable judge will rule in your friend's favor. As for the whistle-blower, I'd certainly want to do something about him.

Adrienne sounds like a winner. You must be bursting with pride.

I am a great believer in cosmic justice. What goes around comes around
and the whistle blower will get his. Sometimes it is hard to wait.

The cops must make busts to justify their being on the public payroll, so we can keep supporting their own bad habits of interfering in people's lives.

They surely have enough to do without sending l0 cops out to seize 2 ounces
of pot. This puts me in mind of the Gestapo like thinking going on right now.

I feel for your friend. I really think pot should just be legalized. It's a plant!!!!
Glad to hear your granddaughter is doing so well...

I can't help but laugh when I think of the computer. Lane's wife works
for weight watchers and it is full of her stuff. I hope they don't ruin it.
