My family is obsessed with red velvet cake and I can't seem
to find a mix here. Miss Goodykoontz sent me a box with a
number of packages of the mix and thanks to her. it is a
snap to make. Making it from scratch is a horror because it
takes a full bottle of red food coloring and frankly the mix
is better than from scratch. I try to fix something for
Bobby and his family to enjoy on weekends.
I devoted Saturday to cooking. I delivered a red velvet cake
to the kids, made a dutch apple pie for us and froze a batch
of chili for the days when the tile and tile setter arrive.
I will probably take up the kitchen floor today which isn't
at all hard, it is tongue and groove laminate. I will donate
all of it to the Viet Nam Veterans or Habitat for Humanity .
It is in good shape but not practical for the kitchen, bath
and utility room. I am making bean soup today, it freezes
well. I got that recipe from Ms. Goodykoontz also and we have
it at least once every two weeks.
Aside from Bobby and his wife, I was convinced we were the
only Democrats in Oklahoma. A neighbor visited last night
and I found out that she has her Obama pin and her sign ready. She is living in hope that someone will ask her to
sign the "Personhood" petition. She has a scathing retort
ready for them. I believe the Senate has passed it and it
has gone to the House, so she is too late.
Our book club selection is "The Night Circus" by Erin Morganstern and it is fantasy and magic and a love story.
It is so good and a first book that I read the author's blog
and found that she is an artist and an actor as well. The
discussion should be fascinating. Try it, you will like it
providing you have a bit of fun in your soul.
I must be off to the kitchen but thank you for sharing my
little world.
