The Sock Monster

I hardly ever have a pair of socks that match. The sock
monster steals them from the washing machine or the dryer,
leaving me with yet another stray sock.

There is another monster who lives at my house who either hides my glasses or breaks off an ear piece. Fortunately,
I only need them for reading.

My solution is to pin my socks to another garment
before putting them in the laundry to thwart the sock
monster and his evil ways. I haven't decided what to do
about the glasses monster, other than go to the dollar tree
and buy several pairs at one time. I am currently mourning
the loss of my zebra striped glasses that I really fancied.

For some reason I haven't been losing socks in the washer lately. Have lost many in the New York laundry room. I suspect sock stealers. Ed never puts his keys in one place on arriving home. I have a basket for eye glasses and keys and if I find them, I put them in the basket. Also Ed uses our casual dining table as his dump. Whatever he is holding when he walks in goes on the dining table. It's exhausting.

I have a sock imp who likes to hide them in sleeves and pant legs.

You made me laugh out loud again! Zebra framed glasses?

Every time I move to the other house, I round up all my odd socks and move them in case their mates are in the other state. But I don't think they are. I could make a little mark on the ones I've checked and put an end to the cycle, but that wouldn't be as much fun.

The sock monster is as omnipresent as the tooth fairy then, only busier. He comes to our house, too!

I'll bet he devours Sofia's little socks as well as the big one. See jjoohhnn's post it is hilarious!

Hi, Jeri — This post sent me to my sock cache, a sad sack of lonely single socks of many colors, longing for their long-lost mates, now destined to be hand-worn dust cloths or catnip toys for my cats. Mine don't get lost in the laundry so much. Mine wear out unevenly on my feet over time, leaving one holey and useless, and the other perfectly fine. Sigh.....

The singles are good for scrubbing and they make fine dog toys too.

Pinning your socks to another garment? Sounds like a lot of extra work. Poor dear.

It is the only way to assure myself of a matching pair.

So right, the socks monster lives to devour socks.

There's another monster who lurks at my house in addition to these two--the key monster!!

This reminds me of when Adrienne was tiny and Bobby would ask her to find
his keys. She would run around with her head down saying, looking, looking,
looking. Ellie always said,"How hard would it be just to put them in a
bowl".

I think you're safe as long as the monsters don't live under the bed or in the closet!

I sure hope so.
