Rex's Dazzling Smile

We had the day from hell yesterday. Ted had two medical
appointments, one in Shawnee and one in Wewoka and Rex
had to be in Shawnee for teeth cleaning by 8:30. This
worked well but the appointment at the Indian Clinic in
Wewoka was at three and we had to wait so long there that
the Vet Clinic had to stay late so we could get our boy
and take him home. It was a very tense day to make all
the connections.

All is well that ends well and Rex greeted us wagging and
smiling, with dazzling white teeth. He is a little
sleepy but his shots were updated and he has a clean bill
of health.

Rex goes to the vet in Shawnee because they are very good
and much cheaper than in Oklahoma City. His total bill
for teeth cleaning, a pre-anasthesia check up and all his
shots including kennel cough was l97.00. I thought that
was extremely reasonable and he doesn't mind going there
at all. I have had dogs panic when they smell the medicinal
smell but Rex trots right in greeting everyone. He licked
a woman that he passed who was holding a small dog and it
was not appreciated but hey, he is a lover!

Ted went to Wewoka because the Seminole Indians recently
got a settlement and they have the money for dental care
for all tribes now. It isn't a bad trip, only an hour from
home.

I refused to keep Ashley yesterday because we had so much
to do. I am sure my dil is mad at me although I assured
her I could keep Ashley today. I had warned her that I
couldn't be expected to do anything on the 9th but she asked
anyway. School starts next Friday and Adrienne has already
started marching band in this heat. That and football
practice is insanity this early in the year.

It is time for my cat Dudley to go for his annual shots. He gets a geriatric cat checkup. He gets so nervous, his blood sugar goes crazy and they think he is diabetic. We all dread the visit.

Funny, how you can you family days ahead of time that you will not be available- and they either forget or think you were not serious or can somehow rearrange your schedule. Hmm...
Rex, I am sure knows his breath is cleaner and his smile brighter.

I get my canines cleaned for nothing--Emily is a hygienist!

Please do. We are all interested in your progress.

Good old Rex. Isn't it something how our true blue animal friends find us? I don't think I could ever set out to purchase a certain breed of animal, I have to wait for them to find me.

Somehow they always do seek us out. We have both been rich in animal
friends.

You DIL will get over it. Sheesh. And YAY Rex! That is SO RIDICULOUSLY cheap! You are lucky you have found that option for him, and I am happy for ya as well.

I thought it was really cheap. They are running a 95.00 special on teeth
cleaning and it coincided with his need for it.

That is a good price of cleaning there. Here it runs three hundred or more depending.
I was shocked the first time and even mentioned this in one of my earlier blog.
But there is a vet in the neighborhood that is less expensive.
Teal is right. You have a life and need to appreciate your time off and free time.
I know that you liked to do this, but one can take an advantage of you.
In my case I do not and they know it.

We were surprised that Rex came home and ate and drank after the cleaning.
I guess his Denta Stiks have worked well because he didn't have any
bad teeth. Ted said to tell you he has an appt for his hearing aide. He took your advice.

It's good the vet stayed open to accommodate you. Rex can give me a lick anytime. Your dil should be happy she has you as often as she does. You have a life too and sometimes the next generation forgets there is more to the relationship than a built in nanny and provider of velvet cake.

I enjoy being around the kids but yesterday was hectic. Ted needs a lot
of rest just to be up and around. I hope you are feeling well and sassy
these days.
