The Real World

Bobby's surgery went well and he felt encouraged. They
removed a ten centimeter cancer from his colon as well as
the lymph nodes and it was all done laproscopically. He has
four holes in his stomach and a tiny incision above the pubic
bone. The surgery took three hours. He gets to come home
today and we are all optimistic. If he is offered chemo, he
is going to take it but that is up to the oncologist. He
was up walking last night.

Ellie went to the hospital with him and then came home about
four and Ted and I went last night. He had a lot of nurses
at his beck and call and he had already been walking so I
didn't stay the night, just saw that he had what he needed.
I kept the girls yesterday since it was a holiday and took
them out to lunch. It was a very long day. Someone from
her school is bringing dinner tonight to them. I will be
able to see to his lunch and check on him if Ellie goes back
to work this week. He has been forbidden to drive this week
and next week. Almost a miracle what they can do now.

Thank you for the candles and prayers. Keep it up dear friends.

I am glad he's up and moving already again. Poor guy! But it sounds like he is optimistic which will help a lot.

We will continued to keep the candles going.Have them on most of the time.

I hope they find chemo is not necessary -- it is very draining. It is great that he came through so well and is already functioning. We'll keep our healing thoughts coming.

Great! And here I'm feeling sorry for myself with my teeny gripes. Where's the emoticon for shaking my head in shame?

So good to know the surgery was successful and that Bobby is comfortable and on his way home. The pathology analysis and the stage of the cancer will guide the oncologist's chemo recommendation, but in the meantime, hooray — the healing train has left the station! All aboard! My prayer candles are burning brightly!
