The weather man assured us that we would finally get a
cooling rain. We did have a lot of thunder this morning
but rain has eluded us again.
Sara's husband may be transferred to San Antonio. I hope
not but it is a lovely place to live. My friend who will
be moving to Baltimore came over last night and voiced
her fears that her children would whisk her into a retirement home. There are a lot better alternatives. She
is terminally tight fisted and doesn't want her savings to
disappear into an assisted living center. I think she
would be happy in an apartment a few blocks from a shopping
center and I have suggested that. She gets around well
but she has made up her mind to be unhappy about the whole
thing. It is dreadful to lose your independence.
I hope Ellie doesn't need my help taking Adrienne and her
friends to the Science Museum again today. She was on an angry trip yesterday because Bobby would not get a speaker
repaired on her car. Bobby is physically very lazy but
she ought to know that having been married to him for l5 years. It would be a lot more peaceful if she just went
ahead and did it herself.
The smoke from the wildfire in Arizona affects our air
here. I find myself coughing a lot and losing my voice.
With this heat, there will be more and it is disasterous
for people and wild life.
