Paul Newman and Paula Deene's Meatloaf

Yesterday was still cool and beautiful. I had a million chores that needed doing but when my son called and asked us
over for dinner and a movie, I didn't have to be asked twice. Ted didn't want to leave so I went alone. I think I
have mentioned before that Ellie has become an excellent
cook. This is quite an achievement because Russian cuisine
is very different. She had made a Paula Deene bacon cheese
burger meat loaf. The recipe is on Food Network. It is the
best meat loaf I have ever had.

Bobby had gotten "Sweet Bird of Youth" from the library with
Paul Newman and Geraldine Page. We both love Tennesee Williams and this is one of my favorites. Paul Newman was very young and breathtakingly handsome and Ed Begley and
Geraldine Page did an outstanding job. Ellie didn't appear
to like it much but Bobby and I were spell bound. I didn't realize the movie was extra long until I got home and looked
at the clock and saw that Ted felt deserted.

It is time to purchase theatre tickets this year. "Rent"
is the first musical on offering. So is "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" which just makes me
howl with laughter. I am looking forward to it.

My favorite Geraldine Page movie was Dear Heart (1964) with Glenn Ford. Doesn't look like it's available from Netflix. She was an excellent actress, nominated for Oscars 7 times, finally won when she was older.

No, she didn't win an Oscar until The Trip to Bountiful in 1985.

I would really like to see Dear Heart. I think she won with sweet bird but am not sure. I know Ed Begley did get an oscar for that movie.

I haven't seen it but I hear it is great. Did you like it?

The theater- I used to love going. Tickets have gotten so high here...

Yes, tickets aren't cheap but no matter how poor we have been, we have never given them up. Hyacinths for the soul I guess.

So Ted missed out on the meatloaf. And felt deserted? Sounds like Ed.

Yes, he pouted about it and told me he had eaten vanilla wafers for supper.

Have you seen Rent? I rented the movie since we don't normally go see shows...

Wasn't it fantastic! Geraldine Page was showing her age back then so I
imagine she is gone now like so many others.
