Garage Sales

One of the fringe benefits of walking early in the morning
is that I see all the garage sales a few minutes before they
open. I met two African American church ladies who were there for the full figured clothing and determined to be
first in line yesterday. I went back home and got some money and bought some jumper cables and new in the box
white drapery tassels. The ladies had bought up all the hats and the nice clothing. I had some clothes that I had
been going to take to goodwill and they took it for their
church so I felt that it was a valuable garage sale for me
in two ways. These women were about sixty and they had brought their Daddy. They told me he was almost a hundred
and the cooler weather was freezing him. They had to drive
with the windows up. It was about 70 degrees.

We went to Shawnee to get Ted's prescriptions yesterday and Rex's heart worm medicine. We came home and had lunch at
an authentic Mexican restaurant. We are used to Tex Mex at
our favorite Chilenos and the real stuff doesn't do it for
us. We brought most of it home and Rex wouldn't eat it either and hey..I know it is not good for him but once in a
while he deserves a treat. Although this turned out not to be one.

I made the boiling water chocolate cake that Kitchen Tales
has on her blog. It is just so good. I had the recipe at
one time but had lost it. I sent part of it home with
Ellie. It is easy and very, very delicious.

Rossville's "Summers End Festival" was this weekend, and it seemed every other house had a yard/garage sale! I don't peruse them. I have enough junk the way it is!

Sometimes you can find amazing stuff that you really need. I am still mourning the one that had all those cans of carpet cleaner for cars. I didn't buy them and now I will have to buy them at the store.

Maybe next time you have to let Rex sample it *first*!

I knew once we got inside that we weren't going to like the food but they had rushed the chips and salsa out and we decided to stay and give it a trial. Big mistake.

I love authentic Mexican- but I like the Americanized versions too. You had quite a morning!

We like it hot and spicy with lots of cheese. I am sure that the restaurant had good food because we were the only palefaces in there.
It just wasn't our cup of tea.

When people say baking and cooking is easy - well - I wonder if they truly know EASY aka buying it from a store.

This cake just requires two bowls and a little measuring...It is really worth it. Try it sometime. It would thrill R. to death.

Some time I want to go to a real Tex-Mex place to figure out what it's all about, we don't have much of it around here.

I think Tex Mex is hotter and uses a white cheese that I suspect is goat
cheese which is delicious. They always serve flour tortillas, chips, salsa
and relish and finish up with soapapeos. (?) You are forced to waddle out stuffed to the gills. Pralines are usually available and we always
have to have one..

Authentic Mexican food is too bland for my taste.

ootoo bland for me too but then we have Chilenos. The very best one of all Mexican restaurants is the one off May avenue where you have to wait 30
minutes.
