In the Midst of Insanity

I finally registered to vote in the next election. We don't have much choice as I see it. Mary Fallin, the Republican candidate has never lost an election. From listening by phone to her town hall meetings, it is obvious that she is no rocket scientist. However, she is blonde and attractive and I expect her to win. She has been involved in several wrong doings but the mud doesn't seem to stick to her.

On the other hand, Jari Atkins who opposes her in her bid for Govenor is not attractive. She claims to be a conservative democrat but it seems to me that she is too conservative. I will vote for her but would have preferred Drew Edmonson who opposed her in the primary.

The mudslinging and tv ads are just awful. We will have our first ever female Governor, but they are not any better than the men when it comes to slinging mud.

It baffels me as to why any one would want the health care
Provisions repealed. All of the old people that I know
are on medicare. They seem to be ignorant of the fact that
it is government health care. They are the first ones
to go get a motorized wheel chair whether they need it or
not. My pet peeve is that advertisement that says it won't
cost you a penny. It costs all of us when they get one.
We ate lunch with a woman who had her foot ran over by one
of them on the cruise. Sometimes they get out on the street
in those things. They were never meant to be transportation.

I don't begrudge them to those who know how to use them and
need them in their daily living. However, if that is not
the case, I wish that people would stop getting them just
to get more from medicare.

I agree. Mary Fallin will probably will just because she is blonde and attractive. The women do sling mud just like the men. That's what I hate about politics. I do not understand negative campaigning; but then I study the issues. Most people just vote for the candidate they "like". They don't have a clue what their platform is.

Oops! Maybe not! I will be in Texas by then. That will give me an opportunity to vote against Rick Perry, however, whom I detest.

Yes, and I plan to.

Yes, but we can vote against her, can't we?

I cannot comment on your politics as I know very little about them
I do feel sorry for the lady who had her foot run over by the motorized wheelchair though - Ow!

It was her contention that a lot of the people are just lazy because most
of them are morbidly obese.

My parents hate medicare... they say that the gov't forces them to be on it, they have no choice, but that the other health care they could have had was better... I do not know what is true since I am not of age - but is medicare the only (or does it have to be first) choice for people over 65?

Other health care is probably just too expensive for them to consider but
they are not obliged to use medicare.

Medicare is NOT required. One must apply for it. Being removed is most likely a matter of a simple visit to a Social Security Office.

Do they know that what they would have been paying for the "other" health care? It's usually a lot more and it goes up.

Nitti, I bet you got some interesting calls.

Everyonce in a while I just have to rant about politics and scooters.

I worried when you got those calls because people have gotten so weird that
I thought it might be a stalker.

The choices are indeed bad in many states. If I stuck pins in everyone who needs undoing, we'd run out of metal.

You are right and you hit the nail on the head.

My phone rings several times a day with calls from political survey companies. I don't know if it is because I'm registered as Independent, but I'm sure the Dems and Repubs are dying to know how I'm going to vote. When I see it's a survey or the Denver newspaper calling, I don't pick up.

I figured out that those strange calls I was getting in the middle of the night were faxes meant for the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park from 'the reservation rescue team' at Travelocity. The fax that finally came through that revealed all this was for Labor Day reservations, and I could picture chaos and consternation at the front desk. Well, serves them right for giving out the wrong phone number; my phone was ringing at 3 am, 6 am, 9 am several nights/days in a row.

Our phone number used to be one digit off from the local Alcoholics Anonymous phone number.

The elections this year have been ugly in every state. I have never before witnessed such ugliness! I agree with you on the medicare/ wheelchair thing. "Nice to have" does not approach needing one!

Looks should not be a factor in choosing a candidate but I am afraid it will be. I guess I will never understand the kind of people that think they need them because they are lazy and the wheelchair scooters are "free".
