Indian Summer

We are having such cool days that it is frightening. I
think we will have another bad winter. We are sleeping under a down comforter at night and it feels really good.
I can cope with heat better than cold.

My son is having problems with his thyroid. It isn't functioning at all and the doctor wants to wait a month to see if it will start functioning on its own. In the mean
time he is always tired and gaining weight. I worry about him a lot. He has a heart problem also. My gall bladder was not functioning and I think that this might be a genetic thing.

Rex is having a problem too. He had a tiny gash under his ear and he started to scratch himself there and really caused it to be a lot worse. I am medicating it and we are
going to make a boot for his paw so he can't scratch it
anymore.

I am finally caught up with laundry and watering etc. I got
in a cooking mode and made a couple of loaves of banana
bread and some chicken salad. Our family reunion is
Sunday but I don't have to make potato salad, my nephew is
making it. Since it gets the kitchen so messy I don't
make it often. I am taking a spiral sliced ham, garlic
bread and brownies. Ellie is making her delicious sweet
potato casserole and my cousin is bringing pies, My sister
is getting a brisket and apricot cobbler.

Sounds like non-stop cooking until the holidays are over.

We may have an odd assortment of guests for Thanksgiving but I am looking forward to it.

Is your Dad going to wind up with your sister, in spite of their compaints?

Whoops -- it was Stockbridge, not Stockton. Looked like a movie set.

I'm on thyroid medicaton and many people I know are on it. Seems to be everywhere. I'm surprised doctor is waiting a month. Kisses to Rex. Enjoy the reunion. Ed had one for his cousins a few years ago. We had it in Stockton, Mass. About 50 cousins and related came from the West and East Coasts. It was lovely but, of course, no one cooked. We stayed at the Red Lion Inn (it has ghosts).

I am surprised too and angry with the specialist. Their health insurance
requires a 250.00 co pay so you can imagine what his fee will be from the insurance company. I think it was just to squeeze out more money that he didn't prescribe thyroid medication.

I think it's great that your family has the reunion in the fall instead of the heat of summer. Hugs to Rex.

Rex is pouting because we disabled his scratching paw with a little boot.
I hope it works.

The reunion sounds like a tasting delight with all that wonderful food. Sorry to hear that your son is having thyroid problems. However, they do have medications that work well for people with thyroid disorders, so maybe they can help him if his thyroid doesn't do the job for him. Love Banana bread!!!

My cousin and my sister are wonderful cooks. They just live in Chickasha
but we don't see each other but a couple of times a year. We need to make more of an effort. I don't understand the delay in giving Bob bobby thyroid medication.

Sounds like the reunion will be a bright spot, or the food will be at any rate. Your weather changed more drastically than ours. I remember when you had 100s. Ours is just cooling down naturally, although we had flooding rains yesterday. Have a great weekend!

It's good to run the gen at least once a month for 20 minutes (check manual). The stator can fail to produce a charge after a period of nonuse, and the monthly run heats the entire unit to dry any moisture that causes corrosion.

The food is always wonderful and it is a pleasure to get together. We had
that awful blizzard last winter. Ted tried out the generator yesterday
just in case.

Thyroid problems can be a pain. Mine does not function either and I take medication for it every day. It helps with the 'dead tired' symptom, but I can't seem to lose weight no matter how hard I try.
I am imagining the aromas from your kitchen... wonderful!

I cannot understand why he couldn't have been given medication. We have lots of fun things to go to if Ted's ailments don't keep us at home but he dud so well during the cruise That I have high hopes.

What I miss most about the US is Thanksgiving. We try to celebrate it here, but there's nothing like going to grandma's for Thanksgiving. All those pies and other dishes that everyone makes are finger lickin' good. Enjoy your reunion.
