Medicare and Folly

I have benefited greatly from medicare because I had two
knee replacements that I would probably still be paying
for had it not been for medicare and my private insurance.

The folly comes in other agencies that have been created in
an effort to get medicare funds. Let me tell you that these
people get access to your age and pester you to death. Last
night a woman called and introduced herself as head of
senior services. Before I could get one word in she said,
"David Janowitz has been assigned to your case. He will
call on you tomorrow". I told her I did not have a case
and I did not need her services and she hung up in my ear.
I regularly get the reverse home mortgage calls and calls
from Home Health Care. It would be wonderful if I needed any of it but I have a feeling these people except for the
reverse mortgage people are all trying to get more funds
for medicare. I also get calls from elder care and people
assuming that I am a diabetic.

Reverse Home Mortgages are fine for people who are strapped
for cash and have no one to leave their houses to but for
the ones who have children and don't actually need the
money it would be a bummer for their children.

The scooter stores are really bad. They qualify people
for a scooter that can't even operate it. I have known
of several that have had one for a month or so and then
sell it in a garage sale.

They might not have to cut benefits if social security
and medicare services were administered wisely. That goes
for all the government boondoggles doesn't it.

It makes me sick that people try and do make bogus money off Medicare. It is such a valuable service to those of us who have it. The fact that the Republicans want to eliminate it just burns me. What do they suggest for those of us with preexisting conditions that would not be able to afford private insurance with their "so-called" vouchers.

Here they are talking aboutcutting the Medicare system to save money when all they need to do is cut the waste.

Aren't you glad we can still flit around? We are grateful. When they call
me about burial insurance, always say that I plan to live forever and
hang up.

I agree Medicare "advantage" plans are usually not what they claim to be. All these outfits that target seniors also depend on them not being as smart as they use to be and can be easily conned into believing they have to do "something". I do same as you -- I tell them no thanks. Sometimes Ed gets on the phone and he sometimes strings them along and demolishes their arithmetic and tells them what they should be saying. When he hangs up, I'm sure they reexamine their career paths. He's a hoot.

My congratulations to Ed. Have you noticed that it most always happens in
the evening?
