Magical Relief

Ellie's visit to the family Dr. brought us all a big dose
of happy. He explained to her that she was converting her
physical symptoms to anxiety and said he was going to do the
appropriate testing to prove it to her. In the meantime, he
put her on Zanex and it has done miracles. He prescribed a
brisk walk, talking about her feelings and taking time for
pleasure. Life will be so much easier on the family now. I
was fearing a complete break down and if she takes her meds,
we won't have to worry about that. The anger and hostility
toward me has dissipated and the whole situation is easier to
deal with since hysteria is no longer the order of the day.
It is hard enough dealing with Bobby and his cancer and the
chemo which is supposed to start Monday. I was hoping they
could do chemo on Friday afternoons so he would be able to
rest on the weekend.

Now, I can sleep better...up from five hours to seven.

Our Doctor called yesterday and told me he is still trying to get Ted's prior cat scan results to compare with the
more recent one. The V.A. is very slow. I sure hope it
has not grown.

I thought it sounded like anxiety- like panic attacks.

Good news, Jeri. I was praying for this.... A hope candle continues to burn brightly for you and Ted, Bobby and Ellie, and your family.

Thank you Marta. It was a miracle that she could accept the help. We are
talking about a controlling personality.

Maybe at some point they will put her on one of the longer-acting anti-depressants and wean her off Xanax. Hugs to you all there.

It is really strong medication. I remember the sixties when we were all on
valium.

Walking is a real help.

Happy Ellie is getting the help she needs. Ed is on an anti-depressant and it has saved our marriage. He told me that all the males in his family suffer from clinical depression. In a charming conversation with the wife of one of his cousins years ago, she suggested we form a "wife support group" for the family. His cousins' urging helped him decide to get medication.

I am all for medication that helps. Ted has been on Zoloft for years and I
couldn't have stood him with out it.

Xanax is very addicting... I am glad she is doing well with it though, and continues to.

I thought it was one of the stronger anti anxiety drugs. I hope she stays
on it until Bobby is at least through chemo.

so glad the doc is helping Ellie! I think doctors recommend walking for everything. but it is a good way to clear your head and think about important things.

Walking is free, it doesn't require much expertise and it is fun to chat
with the neighbors.

Sometimes things don't change; we do. Peace!
