Lifetime Learning

There is nothing so fatal to learning than to have a closed
mind. I find so many people who will not even try
anything new or different. I think the secret of aging
gracefully is to never say never. As an avid Democrat, I
still admire George Bush, Sr for jumping out of an airplane
on his eightieth birthday.

I make a lot of bloopers but then I am constantly multi-tasking while answering the phone and attending to Ted's
requests and unfortunately answering the door to my pesky
neighbor.

There is true pleasure in doing things for other people. I
have often thought that Rex would certainly make an excellent
therapy dog if I had time to take him to obedience school.
He doesn't see me as the dominant person in the household,
he minds Ted very well and is pretty deaf to my commands.
That may be my new thing to learn this year.

One of my unfulfilled dreams is an African photographic
safari. Speaking of Safari's, our zoo is ranked very high..
about 3rd in the nation. We have a mama and a baby elephant, an auntie elephant and a male elephant. The
baby is adorable. If you have ever seen the meer cats on
tv, they have them at our zoo and they are such terrible
beggars. They fight a lot...but don't hurt each other.
Time for bed!!

I never knew you were so adventurous as to want to go on a safari! Of course, I had to look up meerkats to find out what they are.

A fellow, wealthy, with a New York townhouse, gay with several young boyfriends living with him, kept a baby elephant in his backyard. I knew him marginally, since he was close to friends of mine. And, yes, there did come a time when they had to take the backyard apart to move the elephant out. I am sorry I have forgotten his name. He was quite a character.

Elephants are a favorite of mine. The big cats too. I think there is nothing as beautiful as a tiger.

I, too, love learning and traveling. I only wish I could double my life span!

I saw a recipe for braised lettuce, and have to admit my mind is closed to trying it. It just sounds slimy to me, and it's probably very good. I've seen things about the zoo in New Orleans - before Katrina - where they had what sounded like an interesting bayou exhibit. I wonder what they have now, the stories about the poor animals after the hurricane when people were barely surviving much less animals were heart-wrenching.

It does sound awful but I love the old fashioned wilted lettuce and wilted
spinach too.

I'd do an Alaskan cruise before a safari to Africa, but I'm much rather see the country by RV. So many things to see without ever leaving the continent. But i

Part of your comment was lost. I hate the cold and ice holds no charms
for me, but most people love Alaska. Maybe Sarah Palin turned me against it.
I would love an economical Rv but we didn't enjoy having a camping trailer.
