Laugh Out Loud Funny

I have to share this book with you. It is called Letters
From an Unknown Woman and is by Gerard Woodward. I suppose
it is also a little tragic..just sort of like real life.
There are far more funny moments than tragic ones and it is
vastly entertaining.

I didn't think much of our book club selection. The Buddha
in the Attic. I remember WW2 and the Japanese atrocities
too vividly to muster up a lot of sympathy. The Bataan
Death March for one thing. I realize most of the Japanese
that were interned were loyal. The writing was too lyrical
and tended to get on my nerves after while but evidently that
is just me.

What would the world be without good books? They have enriched mine since I was in the first grade and learned to
read.

Every place I have lived, the first thing I have done was get a library card. I go at least every other week. I am partial to cozy mysteries. Have you read the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society?

I have a hard time finding a book that will keep me interested due to my odd interests. I'm currently reading "The Persian Pickle Club" by Sandra Dallas. Written in '95, set in Harveyville, Kansas back in the 30's, about a group of local ladies dedicated to improving their minds, exchanging gossip, quilting etc. Not my favorite genre of book but I'm enjoying it as the characters jump out at you AND I'm just about finished the book! That's a good thing - for me anyway

I love to read. Wish I had more time to read.

I've had a lifelong love affair with books and my daughters and grandchildren are following in my footsteps, I am pleased to say.

A really good book is a wonderful treasure. Some of them are so good we can't put them down, but it's a sad realization that it's over too soon, and sometimes we are sorry to lose touch with the characters, who have become good friends. Once in awhile the author is prolific, and we can look forward to more happy hours, even it it's not those same characters. Happily, my memory isn't what it used to be, so I can put my favorites on the shelf and in a couple of years it's a brand-new experience.

Yes, I love to reread old favorites. You have to get on a library list for
the Woodward book. We have the same weird sense of humor. By the way, Adrienne tells us we are weird daily. Bobby said he held her hand and she
said, "Stop that! That is just so weird." I gave her some advice and that
was weird too. It must be a teen thing. I only get air kisses from her now.

Thanks for the tip about Gerard Woodward's book. Humor is such a blessing and reading is such a joy! And I know you know that the Japanese atrocities in WWII had nothing to do with Japanese-Americans. Their internment was a black spot on our country. Japanese-Americans served with valor in our armed forces. I'll have to check into the Buddha in the Attic, too. As a poet, I love lyrical prose.

You will probably love both books. The humor in the Woodward book is delicious.
