Immersed in Books

The library is a wonderful resource. I have all the Ann
Tyler books that I haven't read and the new Believing the
Lie by Elizabeth George. Living in a fantasy world is better
than the grim reality my life has become. I hope my eyes
hold out.

I am so ashamed but I had to skip to the end when I was about
3/4 through Believing the Lie. It was over 500 pages and I
had a need to know. She is such a good writer that I always
go back and read the rest after I know how it comes out.

I have finally faced up to the fact that Ted is not going
to get better. Bobby is pushing himself and working every
day. He is anemic and not getting enough protein. I am
hoping against hope that he will be able to tolerate the
chemo. I have no control over any of this but then it is
hard to choose to be happy under the circumstances.

I know how very very wearing your situation can be, and it helps to talk about it. We are here for you, and embrace you with kindness and caring.

Books are my escape from reality. However, I have problems there to since I have macular degeneration of the retina. I am really sorry you have so much stress in your life right now but the most important person in your life is YOU. Take care of yourself first, you can't help others if you are well yourself. I found that out the hard way. ((([HEART)))

I know. I am trying to get out more and reach out to other people besides
just my family. Reading helps and gardening helps.

Hugs to you. My mother always struggled with her eyes - they'd get red and tired if she used them a lot. One time she was talking about buying a business that was a clipping service where she would subscribe to many local newspapers and watch for anything referring to her clients or subjects they were interested in. It would cost $49,000 to buy the customers. She was explaining it to me, and must have seen a look on my face because all of a sudden she said 'I'd buy a really good lamp, of course.' She finally realized that it was the kind of work where she'd never get ahead as she got good at it - it would always be the same amount of work.

I wish I had known your mother. The products of her industry are all over
your home in Colorado. Her drapes and her wall papering are wonderful. I
don't think you would have like my mother. She had the sharpest tongue in
all of Oklahoma.

Sorry you have so much stress. My way to cope years back, was just one day at a time. That sounds trite, but it worked for me. I just didn't think about tomorrow. You and Ted are in my thoughts.

I often jump to the end of a book because not knowing is sometimes agonizing. Hang in there.

One day at a time is really all we have. Your schedule was grueling with
Jay's illness. Mine is almost as bad because Bobby requires special food in
order to cope with the nausea from chemo and I simply have to cook whatever
he needs as well as meeting Ted's needs. I am pampering myself as much as I
can. I hate to whine.

so sorry to hear about Ted.This is rough and surely all you can do wished the best.
Bobby still pushing himself. He needs to take it slowly.
Glad that you find solace in reading there.
Good luck and take care.

Thank you. You helped so much with your golden retriever dancing Latin
style. Every time Rex snuggles up, I tell him "You can't dance". Forgive
me for whining. It is my pleasure to take care of my son and husband.
