July is never easy for those of us who live in Oklahoma. I
am so glad that I still have the energy to do the mandatory
watering if you are going to maintain a blooming and
green yard. It is a source of great satisfaction to me to
have green grass and flowering plants. This year, I planted
tomatoes and squash and have all I could use and some to
give away.
Our fourth of July was tame. We did absolutely nothing
but our neighbors had a big family barbecue and sent over
ribs, chicken and sausage and salads and baked beans. That
was very good of them. Then yesterday, Sara and Curtis
and the baby came for dinner. Bobby's family came too
and I cooked most of the day. I fried chicken, big mistake,
for everyone. It was too time consuming and messy but
the fast food set really appreciates home cooking. It was
wonderful to see my charming great grandson. He took
a fancy to me and is very social. He didn't cry once all
evening just gurgled and cooed and crawled like a demon.
I loved having four generations of my family together. It
reminded me of our family picnics when I was a child. We
had the same menu except for the home made ice cream.
I get more sentimental and nostalgic as time goes by.
Sara and Curtis had a new Ford Focus and they are still
excited about it. Curtis said he thought they could come
and see us more often now and I hope so. He is turning
out to be an unbelievably good father, so proud of his
red haired off spring. He changes diapers and everything!!
Adrienne goes to band camp this week. It is a five day
camp in Weatherford. I hope she has fun. It surprises me
that the grand children are all musical. That particular
talent sure passed me by. She got a partial scholarship
because she got the outstanding band student award at
the award assembly.
Today, I am going to put some mint in my iced tea and be
very, very lazy.
Glad your holiday was happy. Ours was about as calm as yours. We watched fireworks from the car as we drove down the road. ha
Enjoy the babies. They grow up too fast.
