Heaven Ala Troutbend and Ciscawickling

My idea of heaven would be to judge a cooking contest between troutbend and ciscawickling. I have experienced some of Laura's fantastic food and I have read about Cisca's mouthwatering dishes for several years. It would be such fun to have them vie with one another for the best cook award while sampling every delicious morsel.

Do you suppose it is the hint of winter that has me dwelling on food? I have been cooking up a storm and even made an angel food cake yesterday. I am ashamed to admit that we ate half of it last night after a big meal.

Someone of the McCain persuasion called me today to take a so called voter poll. They hung up with more information than they bargained for. Even Rex is a staunch Democrat.

My old dog, Bouncer, is having little strokes. I am reluctant to have him put to sleep because they only last a short time and then he gets alright. The Vet seems to think
putting him to sleep is the only alternative. I am going to let him live as long as he can without pain. It is hard to let them go.

So sorry to hear about Bouncer. I am like you. I would let him live as long as he can do so peacefully. You might try giving him a baby aspirin each day. Might keep those arteries opened a bit better. Just a suggestion, but what could it hurt. It supposedly works for adults. I take my aspirin every morning!

I agree with your idea of heaven. Never tasted either ladie's dishes, but yes, ciska's posts- and her recipies make my mouth water just to read them.

Poor Bouncer, I don't think I could euthanize him at this point either. Give him a big hug and kiss from me and my "girls."

In reading again about Bouncer's symptoms, I am wondering if these are really strokes or mini epileptic fits. Brunswick has epilepsy. His seizures were frightening. We were told to watch him and if they increased, he would get medication. Cat dosages of phenobarbitol were not well researched (more is known about dogs). We took Brunswick to a kitty neurologist in Sarasota (we got nothing but money?) and eventually determined the right dose. He is now seizure free and happy as a clam although he needs periodic blood work to be sure his liver is okay.
Perhaps you should get a second opinion. Write down everything that happens when he is having an episode. Does he void, etc. Good luck dear.

The good thing is that Bouncer acts normal between the little strokes. I hope that he doesn't keep having them.

Wish I could cook like you ladies do! It would be a great skill to have! I also wish that someone would call me for my political opinions. I never believed they actually called real human beings... thought maybe they made up most of that stuff! Your poor doggie! Make him comfortable and he will be with you for awhile longer... maybe longer than you imagined.

Oh!that is so sad.Keep an eye on him.Can they give him any
thing to calm this?Keep him alive as long that he is not in
pain.If so then you have to let him go.

My is with Bouncer. As long as he is not suffering, you are doing the right thing. As for the food, I can't even think about it. xx, T.

I am so sorry to hear about Bouncer!!! Poor thing... I am with ya though - let him go for as long as he's still mostly happy.

My Dovie, an Akita, had strokes which left her unable to move. I had to put her to sleep, one of the more difficult times in my life. She is resting beneath the Magnolia tree. I hope that Bouncer is with you for a long period of time.
