You know that I am talking about Rex. He becomes more
human every day, in a good way. He has a lot of bad habits,
drooling, washing his feet in such a way that it sounds
slurpy and noisy. He is such a good hearted dog that it
makes up for digging holes and barking and any other bad
habits that drive us crazy.
One of the nice things Ted does for me is to give me a
pedicure. For some reason, this puts Rex on high alert.
He stands up with his front legs on the couch watching Ted
with a jaudiced eye while he oversees the procedure. Golden
Retrievers are famously good natured but not very obedient.
He refuses to move until I get up and Ted is through.
One of his funnier manipulations is his attempt to get us
to go to bed at night. Eight p.m. is his bed time and he
tries to herd us to the bedroom. When he fails, he paces
and sighs, finally colapsing in a puddle of golden fur.
The whole family loves this sweet dog, even my son in law
who hates animals.
