A Super Read

I just finished a biography of Sylvia Plath by Carl
Rollyson. It is really good and as compelling as fiction.
The marriage of two literary figures with such complex
personalities is fascinating.

She suffered from depression and had an early suicide attempt
before her final episode. Ted Hughes was a callous S.O.B and
his mistress that he left her for, committed suicide and took
their child with her. He and his sister Olwyn had control
of her journals and unpublished writing. Some of the journals
were destroyed to protect his image.

I really think you would all enjoy the book.

I've put it on my reading list. We're probably going to get a library card here in Colorado this year.

Fragile personalities are tragic but not at the top of my list.

She gassed herself in an oven?? I did not know this. Sounds interesting to me, but I can relate to the "dark side" quite well unfortunately...

Emily Dickinson was good but the dynamics of the Plath-Hughes relationship
was fascinating.

Sounds interesting, but truthfully a bio about a poet who committed suicide is not going to leap to the top of my reading list. I have read Emily Dickinson's bio, and that was excellent.

Suicide by gassing oneself in the oven is unusual to say the least. Her
life was equally unusual.
