Christmas Spirits

Looking through my recipe books, I came upon a recipe for Kahlua that I used to give for Christmas to some of my friends. I always put it in an interesting bottle and made a label out of a torn paper bag. This is how it goes:

4 cups of sugar dissolved in 6 cups boiling water.
4 tablespoons of instant coffee
Simmer together for 6 minutes
let cool and then add 4 tablespoons of vanilla and 1 pint of ever clear grain alcohol. Makes 2 quarts and l pint.
I love it with cream or added to coffee.

I had one for making vodka into ammeretto but lost it. Too bad because it was delicious.

Yummy...thanks for this. A friend of mine from the way-back days, used to gift this at Christmas. Good to know how to make my own. Clever you about the cool bottle and torn brown bag!!

I don't mean to sound ignorant, but where does one get grain alcohol. I'd like to try this recipe. I saw some nifty festive peel and stick labels at the dollar tree that would be great for homemade liquid concoctions
