The Change in Time Zones

I have been waiting for my sister and my cousins to come and
be taken out to lunch but Jackie flew in from California last
night and is having a problem with jet lag. She is also a
late sleeper since she retired. Ted has gone to bed because
he is feeling sick. This leaves me in limbo.

I have misplaced the last few books that I bought and now I
am craving more Susan Howatch. Her books are riveting and
totally absorbing. I thought she was dead but she is alive
and well in London and still writing. I just finished The
Rich Are Different and even though it was my second time to
read it, I couldn't put it down. Her villeins are especially
vile and her heroines and heroes are just realistically soiled so it makes for good reading. The books that she has
written about the Anglican church are unbelievably good.

Our big screen tv is going out, my cell phone is dead and the
computer is not acting right. Why all at once? We may wait
for Mike to help us install a new tv. Ted is useless and some one has to help. If David is around we can do it.
Electronic devices are wonderful until they fail.

I sympathize with the technology snafus, which drive me nuts, too, when they happen like that. There is no predicting these things. I do hope you all finally got together for lunch. And thanks for the tip about author Susan Howatch!

She is just a born couch potato like me.

Yeah, now that you mention it, I do too. Takes me a few days to adjust. One direction is worse than the other, but I can't remember which.

Hey, I have jet lag after the time change.

My new TV- less than a month old is acting up and needs to be fixed or exchanged. Ugh! Hope you find your books.

I was told to always by the warranty because the big screens have a short
life expectancy. Ours lasted three years almost to the day.

What a bad technology day. Sheesh! Poor dear. When do they visit? Can you wait that long? You really make me long to read... once I have my designated reading space maybe I will get on it once and for all!

We have already ordered a new tv so it should be up and running when they
arrive. Our old one works, the picture is just not very good and it is at
deaths door.

I hate that Las Vegas is in the Pacific time zone because it is 3 hours behind the east coast, and I'm used to prime time on TV starting at 7 pm, not 8 pm. We notice it with airline schedules - leave Las Vegas at 5 am (at the airport at 3 am) to get somewhere east after noon or even later. There is talk of putting Las Vegas in the Mountain time zone, and I wish they'd hurry up and do it.

It is a real bummer. I hate flying after our last ordeal. I am not sure
but what driving is better if you have two drivers.

What is the time zone here and there?hour or two?
comment by fredo on May 24, 2012 12:54 PM ()
Our time zone is central. Tv starts at seven. It gets dark about nine p.m.
It is fun to sit on the porch at night and watch the fireflies. It gets
light about six.

You've been technologically abandoned, poor dear. Re. reading, I'm finally giving in an buying a Kindle. I never get to the library (no car) and Ed is busy always and I'm never ready when he is going (I'm a girl), and my buddy, Nadine, says she buys very little and mines the free stuff including the classics and she downloads free from the library -- the material stays for three weeks and then disappears. This also makes it easy to get heavily checked out books -- You don't have to get on a list. Whadayathink?

Bobby gave his whole family Kindle Fires for Christmas..including himself.
They love them and down load a lot of free stuff. They all think it was
the best present ever.

T, one of my dear friends got a Kindle Fire and loves it. I have the basic Kindle, which is fine for me, as I don't want to use it to go online, just read books. Another friend just got a Nook, but he is just figuring it out, but I expect he will like it.
