Best Dogs Ever

The first Best dog I ever had was Poochie. He was a mongrel with loads of personality. When I fought with my sister he joined in on the losing side. He left home when I did and joined a family with small children. My Dad went and got him several times and finally gave up when he went back to the children and gave them his blessing.

Muffin was a Yorkshire Terrier who looked like a fluff ball and had the heart of a lion. She was my shadow and I loved her with all my being. I cried for weeks after I lost her
to a liver disease that she got from walking on a treated lawn. That is why I will never put weed killer on a lawn
again.

Rex is shaping up to be a best dog. I call him the 'nurse"
dog because he is right there at any sign of distress. He
is sweet, loyal and has regained his childhood since we got Jose. He plays now.

I think little Jose is a best dog. He is sweet and manipulative and seems to know how to use his cuteness to get what he wants. He can sit when he wants something but doesn't do it on command. He is just as loving as
Rex is. He loves to dress up in his little clothes and
strut around outside.

Jose seems to have given Rex a new lease on life. We are aware that his tumors are cancerous but he is happy, has
a voracious appetite and never seems sick so we may get
to keep him longer than we anticipated.

I feel sorry for people who don't have pets. They can take a lot of care but the rewards are infinite.

Each of our cats was special in its own way, and each had endearing behaviors that we miss so much when we think about it, things that the replacement cats would never dream of doing. It's understandable why people think about cloning a special pet, but I doubt it would be a sure thing that the special traits would be there.

New dogs bring new discoveries. New cats do that too and cats are infinitely less trouble and just as loving. We had a visiting cat yesterday. It was gray with a white vest.

I love that Rex is still shaping up. He has a chance!!! I think this way too, they all shine in their own light but none are the same with the endearing qualities. Well said.
Love this post!!!

We are so happy that Rex is enjoying life and that we will get to keep him longer than we thought. His face is totally white but he acts like a teenager.

A new dog is one of the vital things helping my BIL deal with depression. They recently said goodbye to not just one but two very aged dogs. Until I can get another, I have to get my animal fix online at TheDodo, at pet stores, other people's dogs....

We all need an animal fix. I am glad your BIL has a sure antidote for
depression. Jose has helped Ted so much because he is little and easy to cuddle and likes sitting in laps.

Benny was a once-in-a-lifetime dog. Buster has personality, but he doesn't relate to humans in the same way as Benny did. Buster is 15 and still seems OK although I'm taking him to the vet this week to discuss diet. Seems like the big chunk-style kibble with gravy is too heavy to digest and he's been having morning pukes. But he's doing OK with rice so I'll find something with nutrition that works. I try not to think about being dogless but it will happen if I don't go first. But I'll deal with that when I have to.

My vet says chicken and rice is a perfect diet for dogs that have trouble with digestion. I use the small kibble for both dogs. You would end up
loving a gurly dog because their ways are different but just as much fun.
I have always loved big dogs and said I would never have a little one but Jose has made me eat my words.

Donna wants a gurly dog, but I'd end up taking care of it. Have to wait and see how life goes.

No! No! Where would you go?!? Get another pup. Seriously.

I have stayed with cats, because when I was walking Buster three times a day, I realized I couldn't do it without a break. Ed said he would walk him. He doesn't help with the litter, he doesn't like getting up earlier, unless he has to for his guardian duties. No, it would all have been me. You seem to have more energy than I do. I applaud your dedication to chores and animals. I get my doggy fix by being kind to the dogs of my friends. Saw Buster last on Christmas Day when he sat on my lap, happy to see me. So very sorry that was the last time.

Cats are just as dear and diverse as dogs. As you know, the cat allergy problem in my family has me catless. Ted's contribution to animal care is nil but he does love them dearly.
