We don't have a lot of really delightful weather in Oklahoma.
Spring and fall are our good times when the air is sweet and there is a gentle breeze. The front gardens are in bloom and the Mums are glorious. Most everyone decorates for Halloween
and the lawns are still green.
I was out walking last night and enjoying every moment of
freedom. My friend, Phyllis was out walking her dog, Sally.
Sally is old and arthritic and Phyllis has asthma so the
up hill stretch was exhausting for both. There is a cat,
loaded with personality who runs to meet me and rolls for
tummy rubs.
We are expecting a hard winter. The climate has changed
drastically for us. Our winters used to be mild so I am
savoring every minute of the fall. I am even letting Rex
dig his annual winter hole in the yard. Poor guy doesn't
get much country pleasure. He does love the children from
the private school in back of us. They stick their arms to
the elbow through the fence to pet him.
I have mulched the roses and will mulch them and cut them
back again when it starts to get cold. I really dread
cold weather and have to work out some way to save a few
plants without bringing them in the house. It involves a
plastic tent in the garage and a light inside the tent.
By the way, wasn't Joan's post about Mrs. Brown's Brazilian
bikini wax a hoot. Don't miss it, if you haven't seen it.
