Yesterday was my physical check up with all the attendant
tests. I had to leave the house at seven a.m. in order to
be in Shawnee for the mammogram, lab work and bone density
tests. It was a real bummer. No coffee.
I have had the same Dr. for twenty years or more and he is
a very nice man. When he walked in, I did a double take.
In the last year, he has become an old man. His hair was
almost gone and what is left is white. He was sporting a
white mustache and goatee and his wedding ring was missing.
Uh Oh he has had a rough year, I thought.
I complained about my short term memory because I am always
putting things away and then forgetting where I put them,so
he did some memory questions. I answered them all and then
we got down to the tests. My cholesterol was an incredible
l65. My blood pressure was l32/80 and my lab work was all
within normal limits. I am a cheeseaholic so the cholesterol stunned me. After thinking about it, I realized
that using olive oil for almost everything and drinking a
little wine had been the solution.
One thing that I asked about was Fosimax. I had heard on
the news that prolonged use led to fracture of the femur.
I had stopped taking it for that reason. He told me that
it was also implicated in fracture of the mandible and since
my bone density was normal, not to take it
I was so pleased with my visit that I went to Dillard's
and did some shopping before I came home. The next step
is getting the pants cut off and hemmed. I cleaned some
clutter from the closet for Habitat for Humanity and put
it out for them Ted even gave up some clothes. Habitat
calls us for donations and it is a big help with decluttering.
All in All, it was a great day.
