First Snow Here

Yesterday morning some people were in short sleeves, today we had a dusting -- or rather, clotting -- of snow on the grass.

This is through my side screendoor. I like the effect. And I also see how I don't have to rake those leaves for a while, yay.

And now it's snowing again. Time to wear my shawls.

I love new snow. My favorite kind of day, was the day after a HUGE snowstorm in NYC, when drifts were as tall as I was, and walking down the sidewalk was like walking through a tunnel. Of course, when the temp changed and the snow melted, then it was slush because of the car. Or it would turn to slush and then freeze and youl would have black ice. That was not fun. But new snow, I miss it a lot, a lot, a lot.

I don't like snow or cold. It was not bad walking Jose early this
morning, but he had to wear his little coat.

This is the latest first snow I can remember. Various years in the past we've had a week-long subzero cold snap the first week of November, and our river started freezing over. Others there was open water for fishing as late as Thanksgiving Day.

I could live with that, we got pounded. I had gotten used to last year when we only had 20 inches all winter (average is 112).
