Rain

The hurricane news looks pretty dire.

It might be that in almost a week, the after-weather from this hurricane will reach my area. My friend Mike told me I should get some bottled water and stored water in case power or water gets shut off then. It’s not a bad idea. Maybe I should make sure there’s lots of ice too, to keep a shut-off refrigerator cold. I keep water-filled bottles in the freezer to take up space. I guess there will be more flooding to come, since the 10-day forecast says day after day of rain.

The Monongahela River, one of the 3 that meet in Pittsburgh, flows north towards the city — so the rain pouring in West Virginia will affect it, the news said, and will cause problems.

I’ll be here wringing out my mop.

This is just one event. Even though June is the official start of the hurricane season, Florida is most threated in ate August through October, so as far as I'm concerned, we ain't out of the woods this year.

I'm a bit further northeast from you but we aren't expecting much more than showers from the remnants of Florence.

Water, ice and canned food should see you through the misery. Be safe, we care and if there wasn't distance between us we could do something practical.

It's so hot and dry here, I find it hard to imagine that someone somewhere has too much rain. Today is the five-year anniversary of our big flood, and I promised myself I would never shrug off the news of flooding in other places because no matter where it happens, it's a big deal. Good luck.

Don't forget batteries and if you don't have one a hand non-mechanical can opener--a mop won't do you any good said by a guy fighting King Tides in south Florida where it rains every day during the rainy season and we go about our business.
It sounds like Florence will not be a 4 or 5 but there will be a lot of rain and flooding. Then on to the northeast!
