Signs

Speaking of illegal things.... I woke up from a dream in which I was brainstorming ways to make money fast, and in the dream I decided to pick up a whole highway full of road construction signs and hold them for ransom.

It must have been in my mind from last weekend, when the main highway between here and Pittsburgh had major road construction going on, and on my way to the South Side, couldn't exit as they'd shut ALL the exit ramps. I had to go all the way downtown and backtrack. On the way there, we were then stuck in a traffic jam for about 45 minutes. I started counting the blinky signs which were placed about every 15-20 feet. I got past 150 when I got tired of it.

Not sure if the ransom idea would have worked. Nobody wants to see those signs. I'm exhausted today from finally emptying out one large storage unit. It didn't have that much, but until yesterday when my BIL helped me move a bookcase and tabletops with his truck, I'd been working solo. I'm just not in good shape like my formidable older sister, who can clean out and sweep a junky garage in one day by herself. I've thought sometimes she is powered by anger and the wish to control the world.

So I have a 2nd unit to empty out, but don't have access to it yet until I catch up with the arrears. That'll be fun (no it won't). But at least I don't think there's any furniture -- so it can all be done in a car if necessary.

I have dozens of things to do each day that I don't want to do. Chief among them is making dinner and clean-up. I need to use the treadmill that I haven'been able to do because my back is bad. I start and have to stop. So that is preying on me as well because not working out is not an option. too many things keep getting screwed up.

Also I tried to view my on-line Verizon bill and the site wouldn't recognize either number associated with the account. So I called Verizon and the rep said my account page would have to be re-set. Then I got an e mail that said since I had elected to get a paper bill, one would be in the mail. Do you get the disconnect?

Yes, cooking produces so many dirty dishes that it is to avoided when possible. As for working out, please keep talking about it. It'll shame me into doing it too.

Road construction is horrible to endure...no wonder you dreamed about the signs. Don't try to work beyond your strength, believe me it causes problems in the long run. I try to do things in small increments and it works for me.

Maybe it's not too late to get strong again. When I was in my 30s working at a health center/nursing home one lady kept telling me to slow down before I wore out. I often compare myself to that mule in the Erie Canal song.

Since I have been retired I haven't had a day that I am exhausted--I am still trying to think of how I got things done and worked for so long? Could it be that now NOTHING HAS TO BE DONE TODAY?!?!!?

I think that's where the song "Groovin'" came from. A day where nothing had to be done.

Oh, goodness. I can relate to that weariness.

I have a couple of orange traffic cones that fell over the edge of our driveway last winter when I was gone. Might come in handy one day. If someone asks for them back, they can have them. They need to ask. And describe the lost items.

Traffic cones would definitely be handy to have. Once I almost got a present of a bunch of firefighter gear -- there were trucks on my street one night taking care of something, and one guy pulled off his gloves, a mask, and some other bits and left them on my lawn. Then the crew got on the truck and were about to drive away, but I ran after it and reminded them. It was dark so they couldn't see the stuff.
