Cough Drops and Thermometers Now Harder to Find

I’d started gathering some supplies (cleaning products, some canned food) for a friend who said there was no bleach in his area, but now can’t deliver them. It isn't likely to be coronavirus but I’ve got something causing a horrible cough. It started days ago with what I thought were spring allergies - watering eyes and nonstop sneezing.

Short story, I took benadryl which was a mistake as it locked up my chest, then spent 2 days trying to reverse the effect with hot tea, cough syrup with guafensin, humidifer. I also have to sleep in the recliner, almost sitting all the way up.

My head and neck now hurt with the violence of coughing. Hall’s cough drops with menthol are the best thing, they numb the throat and slow down the frequency of the coughs.

Most of the cough drops at CVS are out of stock online, as well as on Amazon.

I don’t seem to have any fever, and I’m able to take good, deep breaths so if it weren’t for the feeling that I need to cough, and the pain of doing that, I’d feel not so bad. My thermometer seems to be broken, though, and there aren’t any available to buy.

Please everyone take care and don't go on unnecessary trips right now, it's not a great idea.

It is unfortunate that our allergies are kicking in this spring and we are wondering if it is the virus. I did a big grocery shopping yesterday, will have to go to the hospital today for an appt with a coagulation specialist and make a drug store run. Then, hopefully, I can just stay home. Be careful and I hope you are feeling better now and that distressing cough has gone away. The worst thing about a severe cough if that you cannot get any deep sleep.

This is a scary time. I hope your issue resolves itself soon.

We only have one case in my county so far so I went to a planning committee meeting earlier. We spaced ourselves around the table and I believe I'm safe for now. I know when I have a fever and my nose is active year-round but I'll notice if I get a dry cough since I rarely cough for any reason.
Why can't you deliver the supplies you bought for your friend?

I didn't feel safe to drive that far, the way i feel and I don't to crash just because I'm coughing. I usually meet him partway but even that is a distance. In a few days I may be able to, just got to the dr. and got several prescriptions.

Dare I suggest you go to a doctor? Yes, I do--better to be safe than sorry and the cough is a major sign of the virus because it is mainly affecting the lungs!!

If you want I have plenty of cough drops--will only charge you $100 each! No, seriously if you want I have CVS Honey Lemon cough drops and/or CVS Sore throat cherry fast acting lozenges--just send me your address and I'll get them in the mail!

You know, I told my sister I didn't think I needed a dr. yet; but after she suggested a couple of things that could actually be provided I think I'm going to go to MedExpress. The pain is starting to get to me.

I just got over a cold; runny nose, stuffed up sinuses and throat tickle cough. Now my allergies have kicked in. Hope you're feeling better soon.
