I paint on my back porch, and in the summer it gets too hot to paint in the afternoon. Time to stop and do something else for a while. Think I will go and get a haircut.
The photos I take as I paint have a practical application. I see what I need to change; what works, and what does not. Don't know that I like the colors I chose. The green, blue and "purple" clash. I put that last color in quotations because it is actually Brown Madder. I somehow have to work these colors into my background so that it pulls everything together, and the colors are not complimentary. (What was I thinking?) I will mull this over all afternoon.
The photo served its purpose. I can see that the pigeons in flight are too big and the left legs on the bench need to be lengthened. My girlfriend, who is also an artist can't get over at how I paint. Her paintings are completely planned out before the brush ever hits the canvas. Maybe that is why she is so much better than me.
