My Grandsons

I spent the day painting my grandsons. I am posting the photo as well as my art so that you can compare.

I decided to do this in acrylics. Acrylics are too hard to blend so my skin tones are not as smooth as with oils. I don't, however, like the skin tones so tomorrow I will glaze a lighter color over these. I want to give this to my daughter in law for mother's day, so it is pretty important to me that it looks right.

Tomorrow, I also have to catch up on your posts. Two days away and there are so many new posts to read!

Thanks! I spent part of another day fixing it, but I like the final result. (Next post) I have missed your posts. Your humor and take on life in 'Cowsnot' is amusing. Have not been to your page yet, but I always hope to see a new post by you when I do.

They are adorable and the likeness is very good. I think you should
concentrate on portraits. They would be a real money maker because every
mother wants a portrait of her child.

I like painting people so maybe I will spend more time practicing and then offering to paint portraits.

I hope she likes it. She is not a fan of my artwork but she did hang up the other that I painted of Rowan.

I am happy with the final result, and I did take jondude's advice.

Blending: Use a pallette. Get the Liquitex Extender that allows the paint to dry slowly. It comes in bottles and jars. No problem.

I usually use Golden Acrylic Glazing Liquid put I do have Liquitex Slow-Dri Blending Medium. I have it in a liquid and a gel, and that is what I used to fix the skin tones. I think I like this better than the Golden, so this is what I will use from now on. Thanks for the tip! Like I have said before, too bad I don't live close enough to take classes from you.
