I already had the cellophane on this one and it was taped in the back, so I scanned it through the cellophane. (Forgot to photograph it.) About 2 inches is lost under the mat as I need a 9 x 11 inch opening, not an 8 x 10.
This one was a big cheat. I did not hand-draw the image but outlined it in Photoshop, then took the better part of two afternoons to paint it with watercolors. I wonder if it really is "cheating" or just a different technique? Artists use all kinds of methods to get the outlines of their images on to the canvas/ paper. For a lot of the stuff I do I often don't even have a photo reference. (My guys in front of the barber shop) Sometimes I do it all by hand using a photo as a reference, and other times I transfer outlines from drawings or photographs on to the canvas before I paint. This one was too busy and I wanted to get the proportions and perspective right.
