I AM off to the Easel ...

jondude has inspired me to paint trees but Florida trees just don't offer the contrasts found in northern forests. Green trees- green foliage- green backgrounds. It will be a real trick to paint them and make them look good, but live oaks have another advantage: their shapes. The branches often start very low and curve out in interesting directions. I will go through my photos and see what I come up with.

Oaks in Texas are fascinating. They grow to huge dimensions with the trunk splitting and growing in every direction.

Paint your trees by moonlight. That should be interesting.

Remember. Even "straight" tree trunks and limbs have many imperfections. I tell students that a tree may look straight, but I have never found one that actually is straight.

I don't know--it seems one "tree" artist is enough. Stick with what you do best.
