Cranberries and Global Warming

image

Cranberry farmers do not acknowledge global warming but they are planning for "climate changes." New England cranberry farms are hard hit by longer, warmer falls and occasional too early frosts that turn the fruit red before it matures. For this reason, they are looking to buy land in South America in regions like Chile and Argentina that mimic our New England weather.

The Farmer's Almanac denies global warming caused by CO2 but goes along with the Republican claim that windmill Farms increase global temperature by about .78 degrees.

Midwestern farmers have lost millions due to the drought. We have increased hurricane and tornado activity caused by....? Republicans point to the windmills or talk about sun spots. I will concede that sun flares exist, but for global warming they would not be damaging to our overall climate.

We all know our climate is changing but I am loathe to believe that
wind farms are causing trouble.

Personally, I think the whole idea is stupid as chit.

I hadn't heard about the windmills. That's a shame about the cranberries - they seem like an icon of America. Do you think if a big volcano erupted somewhere and threw tons of ash up into the stratosphere that would shade the world enough to slow down global warming? I always wonder about whether that would work. Of course, I don't want to be living right next to that volcano.

My daDDy sez a couple of big volcanic blows would delay it ten to fifteen years.
reply by hobbie on Nov 28, 2012 9:16 AM ()
Well, that might work if the ash filled the holes in the stratosphere!

I could use a little global warming--my hands and feet are always cold!

Yes, I heard it is cold up your way- but not as cold as Oklahoma. Their temp was reportedly 20 degrees this AM.

windmills? or are they what we in australia call wind farms that generate electricity
comment by kevinshere on Nov 24, 2012 1:05 AM ()
I think the theory that windmills contribute to global warming is asinine beyond belief!
reply by dragonflyby on Nov 27, 2012 2:14 PM ()
They actually say that about windmills? (ROFL!) Now I know who watches all those stupid ancient aliens from space and UFO TV programs on The History Channel!
comment by hobbie on Nov 23, 2012 1:54 PM ()
Yes, it is beyond asinine!

It is out there and need more attention on this.

The windmill as a cause is about as stupid as stupid gets. Where have you been?

Climate change deniers are looking dumber by the hour....

I know what you mean. I think they must all eat the same Dumbo cereal for breakfast.
