I was invited to a friend's house but chose to stay home and cook my own turkey... a very small one. I can't stand the thought of not having turkey left-overs. My turkey gravy is delicious and never lumpy- but not low-fat. I learned how to make it years ago. Very simple- make a rue (Roux) with butter and flour and pour in the water left in the bottom of the roasting pan.
My dogs just LOVE turkey. They turn into impossible beggars and become quite obnoxious when they smell turkey and then I sit down to eat. Maybe that is because I have always fed them the scraps when I clean the carcass so now they associate turkey smell with treats. Thanksgiving is only once a year!
Hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I will not be around much until just before Christmas as I am finishing three newsletters.
