Colored Pencils

So, while I am down with this flu thing I brought in a Bristol pad and started sketching. I am trying to teach myself how to paint multiple elements rather than just single subjects. You know, like an army marching vs. a portrait. I also want to learn how to draw and paint horses. Three people and three horses is a start. The sketch turned out ok, but Bristol buckles when painted, so I turned to colored pencils. I don't use them much because I don't know how to create light and dark areas or do depth well. Some people do really amazing work with colored pencils, but I am not one of them. My friend, Shelley, does amazing work with pencils. It looks like paint when she is done. You have to look real close to see that it is actually pencil. Merry Christmas, Shelley, where ever you are!

D: The "new lady" isn't going to be a serious romance. But she sure likes my art. I've known her a while and I am certain she has no romantic ideas aimed at me, either. Good companionship and great conversation. That's all.

You are rapidly becoming expert in all mediums. I love your horses and they are hard to do.

I always liked the "softness" of colored pencils. Muted colors? See, I don't know what the heck I'm talking about! Hope you're feeling better.

They say art heals the soul — so I hope you'll be all well soon! Isn't it fun to learn new things and experiment with new media? Well done!

Looks great - what talent. The only thing I can ever draw, is flies.
