December 21 of this year will mark the 26th anniversary of the terrorist bombing of Pan Am flight 203 over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988. Aboard that plane was Diane Maslowski, 30, of New York. We studied at the same ballet school (Ballet Arts in in its City Center location). We were not close in age, but had mutual friends and I was once included in a lovely afternoon at her apartment before her company transferred her to its London office.
Here is her history.
Born August 10, 1958, Diane Maslowski grew up in Haddonfield, New Jersey. After graduating from Skidmore College in 1980 with a double major in French and government, Diane moved to New York City to pursue her dream of becoming a professional ballet dancer. When an ankle injury forced her retirement from dance, Diane used her knowledge of language and proficiency in math to pursue a career in banking. By 1985 she was vice president of bond trading for the investment firm Drexel, Burnham-Lambert and was living in London, England.
Diane was returning to New Jersey for Christmas with her parents Stan and Norma, and her siblings Michael, Steven and Susan.
A scholarship has been established in her name at Skidmore College.
She was sweet and charming and talented. This is a tribute to her memory.
