This, That, Trump
This, That, Trump
Work ongoing in the kitchen. The cabinets will be beautiful but, because they are replacing cabinets built in 1971, the new ones aren't exactly a match for what was removed. I may actually, not have a few conveniences I am used to, like a pull out trash and recycle caddy. Also, we were shown a lazy susan intended for a hard-to-reach space, but our space where this would be useful is too small for it. I’ll cope.
Ed and I are eating out some and getting take-out and I am washing a small number of items in the bathroom sink. .My temporary set up of toaster, coffee machine, microwave is working well. I am the mainstay, trapped at home with the workers because Ed’s guardian work keeps him away (I think he is maybe also taking advantage).
On Friday, I managed to sneak away while Ed held the fort, and had lunch with two of our group “that lunchesâ€. Nadine, my bff, couldn’t make it. Her refrigerator died and she had to deal with that.
Sonia and Toni and I ate at a Thai restaurant. The food was good but, amazingly, bland. We talked about everything, and, of course, about the presidential campaigns. They expressed the typical European mindset of how could we even consider Trump and in a sudden instance of mutual insight, both said his gestures and body language reminded them of Mussolini.
They also said I should try to get more news from European sources since they didn’t have a built in bias as most of our stations do. So I looked on line and got Der Spiegel (German mag), I worked with Der Spiegel, that was a client, when I was with the NYT Syndicate. I learned that Germany is also having a fascist resurgence and e mailed the article to Toni. I think we get a bad rap from Europeans who face much of the same things we do here, but don’t recognize the similarities.
I am worried about Ziggy, who was kind of plump but has thinned out which is okay if it isn’t from an illness. His ears have to be cleaned twice daily and treated with an anti-fungal med, and we are not doing it much. I can’t do it alone because he resists and Ed is never here. He is also over grooming and losing a lot of his orange fur. We had him checked out at the vet and his blood work was fine, so maybe it’s just his ears bothering him. Also, he has this maddening habit of chowing down on geckos he catches on the pool deck. That can make him sick. He has feline immune deficiency so we have to be proactive.
