We got delivery today of the cabinets. They are stacked in the living room. I had to crowd the furniture into one side of the room. Sometime in the afternoon, I realized I hadn’t seen Max around and did a search. When I can’t see him, he lets me know where he is because he chirps at me. No chirp anywhere. No Max. I realized he had gotten out while they were bringing the cabinets in. He came back around midnight, and the knots in my stomach eased up. He got in because I put screen doors on the pool deck in an open position and the pet door unblocked. He’s gone walk about three or four times in the last couple of years. It’s always a worry because we have canals that border each street and a bay on each perimeter. Animals have been known to fall in and not been able to climb out.
I cooked a meal – Ed ate. I couldn’t because I was worried about Max. It was the last one before the reno. I then spent the evening totally clearing the kitchen area of every last item. I set up a temporary snack bar – coffee machine, toaster, can opener, microwave, on two carts in the family room. We’ll be able to have coffee and toast in the morning. We can make sandwiches.
The cabinet guys will have to move the refrigerator. Ed has to be in court tomorrow to petition a judge for a DNR for a ward who is failing fast. So I’ll be on my own with the workers. I have instructions to give them that Ed gave me. The estimate is two weeks. I’ve organized well but I’m a basket case.
On the election front, Trump’s shenanigans have prompted news anchors to talk with psychologists and the consensus is (we knew this) that he is a narcissist and pathological liar. Joe Scarborough, the on-again, off-again moderate or right-wing jerk, said he had been receiving calls all morning asking if Trump was mentally ill. (The answer is yes, yes, yes.)
Meg Whitman, the Hewlett-Packard chief executive who ran unsuccessfully for governor of California in 2010, will not only vote for Hillary but will raise money for her. Other prominent Republicans also have jumped ship and will vote for Hillary.
Meanwhile, Paul Ryan and John McCain are both running for re-election and Trump refuses to endorse either. (It’s payback.)
This election is truly bizarre. Trump is already setting the stage for a “system is rigged†accusation if he loses. He also said the debate schedule should be changed because it’s on at the same time as the Super Bowl. But the schedule has been set for some time and he is only now complaining. He’ll try to weasel out of debating at all. He’s not at his best in a real contest of skill.
