Struggling

Well, my immune system finally said “I give up,” and I got Ed’s cold. What is annoying is that I know I must rest (in days of old, I’d ignore a sore throat and go to class anyway) and I have already given up too much exercise time.

I am keeping things at bay. One remedy that helps a lot is to gargle with anti-bacterial mouthwash. I use green Act. I am using a steam inhaler, and I dab some Vicks vapor rub on a cosmetic pad and put it on top of the grid – I get the benefit of the fumes without compromising the water. A nose apparatus came with it but I am not using it. It looks like a circumcised penis. I am thinking, really, guys, this is what you came up with? So it is in a drawer.

We were going to do our big shopping trip to BJ’s but decided we were both too undone so we just shopped locally for some items needed right away. For Ed, that would be diet Coke, ice cream, chips, and corned beef that he likes to have for breakfast. You know, the major food groups. I bought some spicy V8 because it takes away hunger pangs. I also found Porterhouse on sale and tonight we will have the market specialty, salmon stuffed with crabmeat.

Good friends just came back from visiting grandchildren on the West Coast, and before that they were in the Keys where they own a rental house that they have to oversee. They are the best. I can’t wait till we can make a date to get together for dinner.

A day ago I was visiting Kathy in her Mimi’s Boutique shop, and an older guy walked in, a friend of hers. We sat around and chatted. He was trying to figure out how to deal with all his money. He already has trust funds for all his grandchildren and has hundreds of thousands more. So I said, hey, spend it. His feet were in sandals and didn’t at all match the rest of him which was rather down home in the category of geezer. Perfectly formed little toes, not a vein showing (he’s at least 70) and I could swear he’d had a pedicure where they do the whitened tips.

His money came from the music business. He said he had a country & western hit record years ago. I’ll have to find out more. Watch this space. Maybe I can hear it on YouTube. He flirted with me and I made light of it all. I can’t remember my responses now, but Kathy thought I was a hoot. (Yes, I know the term dates me.)

xx, Teal

One of my favorite country western songs is "I'm gonna hire a wino to decorate our home" by David Frizzell. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

I swear it's my BiPAP machine that keeps me from getting seriously ill. I did catch something after working the hospital for 8 days, but it passed as a minor inconvenience. Feel better!
