Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
No one to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

…John Lennon, b. 10/9/40 – 70 years ago

Meanwhile, today is the 100th anniversary of Jay’s birth 10/10/1910, or 10/10/10, a calendar sequence that occurs only once every hundred years. A great admirer of Mark Twain, who died the same year of his birth, Jay tried to continue in the tradition of Twain’s honest philosophy and devastating humor. Jay, a 10 if there ever was one.

A toast to Jay. I'm holding my morning cuppa tea (too early for the hard stuff) but am thinking of brewing up a pot of coffee. Does he take his coffee black, or cream and sugar?

Cream and sugar and a warm smile always got to him.

That excerpt from John Lennon says it all. OMG I didn't realize he would
have been seventy if that nut hadn't shot him. Teal, I admire your devotion to Jay's memory.

It's astonishing how everything that happened seems so recent. I was working in a building owned by the Plaza in New York and connected to it with underground passageways. I tried to get in to the mail room one morning before going to my office and the entry was mobbed with teens because the Beatles were there and the security thought I was a gate crasher. I finally convinced them I was legit and they let me pass.
